There are a lot of goldendoodle breeders for you to choose from.  Pricing can vary by a little or a lot.  Most of the web sites look great, the pictures of the puppies are adorable, and terms like “guaranteed health” or “we will replace your puppy….” or “home raised”, etc. can sound as if you’ve found the place to get your pup. You want be able to make a good, informed choice before you bring your new family member home.

Here are some of the reasons we hope you will choose Goldendoodles of TN for your goldendoodle puppy, and what sets us apart from other breeders

  • We have been breeding goldendoodles since 2004 – that’s a lot of  experience!
  • All of our parent dogs are tested for genetic issues and cleared before we breed them.  If a dog doesn’t pass the genetic testing, they are not kept in our program.   See: Testing Parents For Genetic Issue
  • All current parents are listed on our website with photos, statisical and testing data – all reports are available for your review.  Retired parent dogs’ information available upon request.
  • Past litter photo and information is available for all current breeding dogs who have had at least one prior litter.
  • We have references, references, and still more references.
  • Our doodles come with a 2-year written health guaranty against life altering &/or threatening genetic disorders (including hip displaysia). You will NEVER be asked to return your puppy in order for our guarantee to be effective. (Copy of our Purchase Agreement/Guaranty).   When looking at a breeder’s guaranty, check what is required before you can get a refund or a replacement puppy.  There could be some requirements that would be difficult to follow – most importantly, make sure you never have to return your beloved dog in order to get a replacement puppy.
  • We use the best vaccinations on the market by NeoTech to protect your puppy from parvo.  Pups receive several series of shots before they go home at 8 weeks, as well as weekly de-wormings – keeping your pup free from worms is important to keep their immune systems at their best.
  • We offer rehoming if, for any reason, circumstances arise that you can no longer keep you doodle.
  • We utilize guardian homes for the majority of our adult dogs so that each dog is treated as a pet and lives in a home with their family.  None of our dogs live outside or live in kennels.  All our dogs are kept indoors as loving pets and are well socialized and are treated as family members.
  • We are here for you before, during, and long after you purchase your puppy from us.  We will always help answer questions, offer assistance, and want to know about you and your dog for as long as you’re together.

ALL OF OUR PUPPIES ARE MICROCHIPPED AND REGISTERED IN YOUR NAME BEFORE LEAVING OUR PREMISES.

We microchip all of our puppies before they go to their fur-ever homes. But having a microchip doesn’t help if it’s not registered in the owner’s name. We go the extra step and register the microchip into every owner’s name before the puppy leaves our premises. This guarantees that if you and your puppy are ever separated, the microchip information will show up and it will be easy to contact you. There is no additional expense for the microchipping or registration of the microchip – it is all included in our puppy purchase price.

We scan the puppy at puppy pick up time so that the new owner sees the chip information and can compare it with the paperwork showing the microchip. Your pup is chipped and you know you are taking home the puppy that matches all the paperwork and information for that puppy.

We use Datamars Slim microchips, and the microchips are registered with www.Petlink.com.

SNUGGLE PUPPY:  There’s a special item in our puppy packet that helps your puppy transition from sleeping with littermates to sleeping in his or her new home. The Snuggle Puppy is something we include with every puppy. It’s soft and snuggable, and includes a “heart” that is battery operated and mimics a heart beat. There is also a warming pad that keeps your pup warm and simulates another pup sleeping next to him or her. These retail for $40 but we felt they were so helpful that they were a must for new pups in new surroundings. We get pictures of our doodles carrying their (sometimes worn out) Snuggle Puppies even years after they have gone home.

Going the extra step to make your puppy’s first nights easier means YOUR first nights are easier, as well. We want you to be happy with your experience with getting your goldendoodle puppy from us!     https://www.smartpetlove.com/…/comfort-cate…/snuggle-puppy/…

SHOTS & DEWORMINGS:
We take a very pro-active approach in our de-worming and shot protocols to prevent parvo and other illnesses that puppies are particularly susceptible to. We use a 5-week parvo shot from http://neotechvaccines.com and follow their protocol for administration. At 8 weeks, our puppies receive a Vanguard + 5 shot for distemper, adenovirus types 1 and 2, paraninfluenza, and parvovirus.

De-wormings are started at 4 days of age and repeated weekly. Parasites weaken the immune systems in puppies. Keeping the puppies parasite-free keeps them healthier. We use 3 different types of anti-parasite oral suspensions given at different times – (1), Strongid (pyrantel pamoat) for roundworm and hookworms; (2) Panacur (fenbendazole) roundworms, hookworms, whipworms, tapeworms, intestional flukes and the protozoa Giardia; and (3) Toltrazuril (to prevent a coccidia outbreak).

All puppy owners are given a copy of our health record that sets forth all shots and de-wormings that the puppy has had as well as what is needed in the future.

For a fully rounded approach to protecting your puppy, one dose of Revolution between 6 & 8 weeks of age. (Revolution is a safe and simple monthly topical medication used to protect your dog from heartworms, fleas, ear mites, treatment or prevention of fleas, the American Dog Tick, ear mites, and canine sarcoptic mange).

The health of our puppies is of utmost importance to us. Puppy buyers should be able to expect the healthiest puppies for the money they are paying their breeder. We don’t believe in shortcuts or saving money on supplies that could affect our puppies’ health. You get the best for your puppy when you come to us!

THE SCOOP ON POOP (FURTHER TO OUR SHOTS AND DE-WORMINGS). The Scoop on Poop
Giardia…. coccidia… ever heard of these, or has your dog had either of these?
“Giardia is a single-celled parasite that lives in your dog’s intestine. It infects older dogs but more frequently infects puppies. Dogs become infected when they swallow Giardia that may be present in water or other substances that have been soiled with feces.” http://www.petsandparasites.org/dog-owners/giardia-in-dogs/
“Coccidia are small protozoans (one-celled organisms) that live in the intestinal tracts of dogs and cats. They cause disease most commonly in puppies and kittens less than six months of age, in adult animals whose immune system is suppressed, or in animals who are stressed in other ways (e.g.; change in ownership, other disease present).” https://www.petcoach.co/…/coccidia-coccidiosis-a-cause-of-…/
We keep our puppy areas as clean as possible, but it’s not possible to keep them away from their potty area so they are going to come in contact with feces. A puppy can step in puppy poop and then walk into its water bowl and then the entire litter can drink from the bowl. We change the bowl to give fresh water several times a day and use bleach to disinfect the puppy bowls, but it is still going to happen.
For this reason, we start treating our puppies for parasites the first week after they are born. Keeping our puppies parasite free keeps their immune systems healthier. We also pre-treat our pups before going to their forever homes as they will start going outside regularly for housebreaking, and they can pick up giardia and/or coccidia from damp soil, standing water, etc. in their environment.
Starting at 1 week and continuing once a week over the next 6 weeks, our puppies are given – STRONGID (pyrantel pamoat) vets prescribe it to cure roundworm and hookworm infestations in dogs. Almost every puppy either is born with worms or contracts them through his mother’s milk.
Starting at 4 days of age and continuing each week until they go home, our puppies are given Toltrazuril (to treat and/or prevent coccidia).
At age 5.5 weeks (for 3 consecutive days) and again at weeks 7.5 weeks (for 5 consecutive days), our puppies are given PANACUR (fenbendazole). Panacur, by Intervet, is a broad-spectrum anthelmintic (deworming medication) that contains fenbendazole as the active ingredient. It is used to treat both immature and mature roundworms as well as hookworms, whipworms, tapeworms, intestinal flukes and the protozoa Giardia in dogs. Fenbendazole is a benzimidizole-class dewormer.
Another measure we took to decrease the incidence of passing coccidia and/or giardia is to use a top quality puppy food that results in solid poops that aren’t as likely to get walked over and transmitted around as would looser stools. We have another post dedicated to our use of Life’s Abundance Dog Food that covers this topic. https://www.lifesabundance.com/Category/DogFood.aspx…
We want your puppy to be as healthy as possible. Keeping him or her parasite free is the first step!
