What do we feed our dogs?

With all the food recalls, you need to be sure of what you are feeding your pets. Stay up to date on recalls at this link: http://www.dogfoodadvisor.com/dog-food-recall/

Our puppies are fed Royal Canin dog food.  We use their “weaning formula” for the moms and puppies when they start on kibble at 6 weeks.

We then switch them to the puppy formula for the size dog they are (small, medium or large breed puppies), and use the Golden Retriever Formula.

You can buy it at pet stores, but ordering from Chewy.com is easy, ships quickly and offers free ship.

Your puppy packet will come with a puppy starter kit from Royal Canin with a small bag of food, a can of canned food, information packet, and a coupon for Royal Canin food.

We are also please do recommend  Life’s Abundance dog food if you wish to switch over to another food.

PARVO: THE PUPPY KILLER — WHAT YOU MUST KNOW!

Parvo Facts

GUIDELINES FOR YOUNG PUPPIES (UNDER 16 WEEKS):

FOLLOWING THESE GUIDELINES COULD SAVE YOUR PUPPY’S LIFE.

1. DO NOT take your puppy to the front yard, park, for a walk around the block, or to PetSmart. These are all places where infected dogs have been or presently are.

2. Only have the puppies around dogs YOU KNOW are current on vaccinations. There should be NO contact with stray dogs or dogs that you are not sure of.

3. Do NOT let your puppy be exposed to other puppies. These pups could be incubating parvo or other diseases (and therefore be contagious) without showing signs of illness.

4. Always wash your hands after handling any dog so you don’t pass anything to your puppy.

5. Do NOT take your puppy to “puppy schools” for training until his/her final shots have been given (16 weeks). Your pup’s life could depend upon it.

Pups remain HIGHLY SUSCEPTIBLE to parvo until 2-4 weeks after the last injection of the immunization series.
